Rain Harvesting Leaf Catcha

A simple, bucket-style rain head ideal for easy-to-reach places that can also be used as a catchment device for tank overflows.

Round 90mm / 100mm | RHLC20
Rectangular 90mm / 100mm | RHLC01

By keeping leaves, mosquitoes, rodents and other pests and debris out of your downpipes, the Leaf Catcha helps you collect better quality rainwater – and more of it. Like all the rain heads in our range, its catchment efficiency is maintained even during high flow rates.

With its “bucket” style configuration, this rain head is particularly suited to areas where splash resistance is important, such as on downpipes around your deck or patio.

In addition to its main function as a rain head, the Leaf Catcha can also be installed to keep leaves and debris out of your tank overflow water and direct this water to stormwater drains.

Installation Instructions

Gutter mount

  1. To install your Leaf Catcha rain head on a vertical downpipe directly under your gutter, measure down from the underside of your gutter and mark the downpipe in two locations. First at 70mm and the second at 240mm. Cut the downpipe at both these locations to create a 170mm gap to install the Leaf Catcha. Whether this is directly under your eave or midway down your downpipe, it must be a minimum of 500mm above your tank inlet and tank overflow pipe. Ensure all cut edges are clean and smooth.
  2. Fit and bracket the pipe to the wall.
  3. Place the mesh screen in your Leaf Catcher, snapping the screen under the rear retaining ledge first, then under the front and side ledges.
  4. Slightly rotate your Leaf Catcher to slip it under the upper section of downpipe, then slide it into line and push the unit down onto the lower section of downpipe. Do not glue in place.
  5. If desired, you can paint your rain head to match your downpipes, building or tank.

Eave & “mid” mount

  1. Locate the position at which you will be installing your Leaf Catcha rain head. Whether this is directly under your eave or midway down your downpipe, it must be a minimum of 500mm above your tank inlet and tank overflow pipe.
  2. Remove a 170mm section of pipe at your desired installation point. Ensure all cut edges are clean and smooth.
  3. Fit and bracket the pipe to the wall.
  4. Place the mesh screen in your Leaf Catcher, snapping the screen under the rear retaining ledge first, then under the front and side ledges.
  5. Slightly rotate your Leaf Catcher to slip it under the upper section of downpipe, then slide it into line and push the unit down onto the lower section of downpipe. Do not glue in place.
  6. If desired, you can paint your rain head to match your downpipes, building or tank.
